Hello friends,

Still beyond myself with pride and happiness about having you as my beta reading group. Your comments are really helping the text to come across better. Thank you!

You might wanna know a bit more about how the book came to be - because it is not really as you might think.

When we came back from Indonesia we were pretty tired and there was a lot of practical things to attend to, in order to boot up life again in Sweden. I didn't think much about starting new projects, and most definitely not about writing [another book] (http://bit.ly/theKanbanBook)

However, during our stay in Indonesia and the adventures that the book is about i blogged a lot about what we learned, as that's how I try to remember things. I've also been a guest on the Scrum master podcast once and we ended up talking about the journey at the Bungsu too - as that was the team I coached at the time.

Just a few days back in Sweden and Vasco Duarte, contacted me and simply said: "You have to write a book about this, Marcus.". I didn't think so since it mostly felt like life just happened down there. I didn't feel like we did more than was required of us. Sure - the outcome was amazing but there were many amazing stories that happen in Indonesia each day.

Luckily I have done extensive dairy notes during the project. All the way to the end I was worried that we would get in trouble for the work we did. Some of it was not sanctioned. I made the daily notes to know how to justify our actions and see the progress.

These notes came very handy now and I went to a library close to home. 4 hours later I came out with a table of contents and a very strong feeling that this story needed to be told.

So in a way - Vasco is the trigger for this book to come into existence. Thank you, Vasco! You inspired me!

In the coming 2 weeks I spent a few hours in that library and before long I had a very drafty version of the book. 160 pages or so.

Already at this point, I decided to write the whole thing from my own perspective and in the present tense. This is great but also very hard so we decided to bring in an editor, Niina Bell, that has helped me immensely in making this text more engaging and terse. It took quite some time though, almost a year.

We then did some other edits and tweaks, proofreading etc and now the project has come this far. I'm proud of the book but also a bit sad it took so long. But much rather do it with quality than speed. You are helping me in that quality-part.

In the next week Vasco, Firat and I will meet and talk about the launch of the book. I can see the goal line. I can taste it.

Today I'm releasing chapter 11-15 and I will start to make edits to chapter 1-5, based on your feedback.

Let me know if there's anything that you want me to write about in these messages. Ask away and I'll answer.

Thank you again for reading my story.
