During this session we will explore how to use data to prioritize work, communicate with stakeholders, and decide what NOT to build.

Prioritization in a large enterprise can be difficult when dealing with competing stakeholders and internal politics. How can Product Owners say “no” to people who could be signing their paychecks or who have significant authority within an organization?

During this session, we will explore how to use data to prioritize work, communicate with stakeholders, and decide what NOT to build. We will share examples of valuable metrics that product owners can bring into a prioritization session and can be used to explain informed decision-making. We will also discuss how to develop product ownership competencies and self-efficacy to feel more confident, push back when necessary, and speak from a position of backlog ownership authority.

Product Owner Metrics:

  • Intro to the metrics that can be useful to product owners to help with prioritization.
  • Examples of useful product metrics

OKR’s and LeanUX For Future Prioritization:

  • A brief overview of OKRs and LeanUX and how they can be utilized with teams and across teams.
  • Examples of cascading OKRs and writing, refining, and assessing Feature performance using LeanUX

Developing Confidence and Competencies in Product Ownership:

  • Overview of Developing Self-Efficacy
  • Explanation of how to utilize the LAI Product Ownership assessment to develop short and long term competencies and confidence.
